Scholarship
Black Community Scholarship Fund
Opportunity Details
The Black Community Scholarship Fund is awarded to African-Americans in the greater Kansas City area. The student must be a graduating high school senior, a current College student, or an adult seeking educational or career advancement through an accredited degree or certification program at a two or four year College and/or nonprofit technical school. Priority will be given to students pursuing degrees in the fields of Healthcare, Education, Youth Development, Liberal and Performing Arts or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Announcements are made in June. This is renewable upon a 2.0 GPA.
By accepting the scholarship, the awardee agrees to perform 16 hours of community service within the year with an organization mutually approved by the student and the Black Community Fund Board of Directors. If selected to become a BCF Scholar, it is the Board’s expectation that you stay attuned to the needs of your community and are deliberate about giving back of your time, talent and treasure. Consideration will be given to the student’s academic and civic performance, community service record and essay quality.
