WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Commercial Real Estate group is responsible for loan production and management of institutional quality real estate term and construction lending. The CRE internship will support the underwriting / portfolio management team in the management of the loan book and origination of new lending opportunities.

The underwriting teams underwrite risk (i.e., selection/rejection of new and renewal business) and analyze quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepare reports accordingly. They administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, laws and regulations.

The intern for this team will provide overall support to the Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. Assists in the evaluation and review of existing business and new accounts. Contributes to the profitable growth of specific program(s) by maintaining pricing integrity, product excellence, and the development of meaningful performance metrics and controls.

This 2024 Summer Internship is for undergraduate students who have an anticipated graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025.

Essential Functions:
• Support gathering and review of client financial statements and covenant compliance
• Assist in the completion of borrower period reviews
• Project site visits
• Processing of construction loan draw requests
• Support for the analysis and drafting of new loan proposal memos
• Support gathering and review of client financial statements and covenant compliance
• Perform additional duties as required

Requirements:
• Currently an undergraduate student at University or College
• Expected to graduate between December 2024 – June 2025
• Cumulative GPA or 3.0 or above
• Preferably majoring in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and proficient with financial statements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision
• Ability to work well with others and on teams
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Demonstrates strong judgement
• Some understanding and knowledge of Federal banking regulations
• Ability to work in an environment that supports employees from all backgrounds and fosters an environment of inclusion

Working Conditions:
• Shifts and/or schedules may change throughout the internship as dictated by management and business needs
• Travel to multiple facilities may be required
• May be required to lift, push, or pull materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds
• May be required to sit and review information on a computer screen for long periods of time
• May require repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard
• Corporate / satellite office role

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
