The High Mountain Institute (HMI) Teacher Apprentice Program is designed for College graduates who want to immerse themselves in a hands-on semester-long apprenticeship with HMI Semester, a semester school for high school students. The program includes participation in a seminar that combines formal lessons in educational techniques with philosophies of outdoor education. Apprentices play a dual role as both students and teachers in the wilderness, academic, and residential components of the HMI Semester. They receive guidance on career planning throughout the semester, preparing them for employment in various fields, including outdoor or experiential education, high schools, adventure recreation, and residential programs.
